Wow what a day at Raby Bay today fishing Round 4 of the SEQ Bream Series as we took out win and the first for the year for myself fishing with my client Jonathan with one the Biggest ever bags caught in Qld weighing in at 4.51kg – 195cm for 5 Bream!
We had one of the most incredible tournament fishing days I ever had catching over 60 fish and weighing in my 3rd biggest bag in 20 years of tournament fishing, we managed to get the Biggest overall Bream at 42cm – 1.07kg and won the pro up division too and bagged $1045 cash.
It’s a great feeling as the first three rounds I’ve been struggling to get the bigger fish to bite as it’s been a little different this year but today my techniques work and we nailed it.
It’s a chilly morning up at Raby Bay for Round 4 of the SEQ Bream Series today, hoping for a great result with over $1700 in cash up for grabs. … See MoreSee Less
Great to be back on the Gold Coast today after a couple days break with new lure anglers Nick and his mate, I have to say today was one of the toughest days I’ve had in a while with a really shut down bite all charter with a lot of short strikes and missed fish but the boys still caught around 15 fish using surface lures, hard bodies & soft plastics in the canals and Broadwater and learnt the techniques for when they head out on their own.
The Gold Coast & Redcliffe Waterways what’s the difference?
My two charter locations I work from are the Gold Coast & Redcliffe waterways and to me they’re the best and most consistent fisheries here in SEQ, they both work different with different seasons.
The Gold Coast system is know to be one of the best in Australia as we have great fishing all year round for a huge variety of fish and we fish it a number of different ways.
Redcliffe is known to be one of the most consistent shallow water Snapper fishery that fishes best from September to May.
Here is a video I decided to do up explaining both waterways and how they work in cooler months and why I stop guiding up at Redcliffe throughout Winter and focus on the Gold Coast as I have been having a lot of people asking daily.
It was great to have local angler Geoffrey onboard today for a Redcliffe charter as he wanted to learn the area more and the techniques to target Snapper along the peninsula, it’s getting late in the season for my Redcliffe charters and fishing wasn’t easy but we worked hard and got into some nice fish and action with some bigger fish lost.
