2020 SEQ Sportfishing Series Rules & Guidelines.

SEQ sportfishing Series is a boat/ kayak lure only series, all rounds are open events to any angler with a boat or kayak at anytime but you must meet the regulations and understand the rules to fish an event.

Event guidelines and rules

  • In 2020 all fish are to be measured on an SEQ Sportfishing Service measuring mats, these mats are $30 each and must be purchased with your first entry of 2020, you get to keep the brag and it must be used at every round so all anglers have the same size measuring mats.
  • When measuring your fish the nose/mouth of the fish must be hard up against the alloy bar on the brag mat with the bottom tail fin on the measurer with your key tag showing in the photo.
  • Fish will be measured by cm.
  • Your 5 biggest Bream will be added together for your overall length.
  • When you bring up your photos at the end of the event you must only have 5 Bream on your phone for us to measure plus any bonus species you catch.
  •  If you have similar size fish on phone we will check the time of photo on your phone, fish photos must be 5 mins apart otherwise they will not count.
  • Entry fees must be paid with your online entry form and no entry will be accepted unless this is done,  your starting position will run off the order of entry.
  •  If a team (boat or kayak) is caught fishing in a no go zones or outside set boundaries you will be DQ from the event with no return of entry fee.
  •  If a team (boat or kayak) is to be found tampering with a measuring mat or take multiple photos of one fish they will be DQ from the event with no return of entry fee.
  • 20% Admin fee will be charged from your entry fee if you pull out of the event before 8pm on the Friday before the event, this 20% will be put back into the prize pool for the event.
  • 50% Admin fee will be charged from your entry fee if you don’t show up to the event without letting us know by Friday 8pm Friday before the event, this 50% will be put back into the prize pool for the event.
  • By entering this event you do so on your own accord knowing that any event has risks, during the event times you are covered by your boat insurance and you wont hold anyone from SEQ Sportfishing Services liable for any incident that may occur.
  • Rod and Reel Cast and retrieve only, No bait, burley or trolling allowed. Must use artificial lures or Fly only.
  • An angler must only use one rod at a time.
  • Fishing time will run of GPS phone time and this will be mentioned at the briefing, you will be handed a Key tag at registration and this must be put back on the key tag board at the end of fishing time, if you are late a penalty will apply, 10cm for every minute late (over 30 seconds will round up to a minute) anything over 10 mins will DQ the team.
  • All fish must be caught off a boat or kayak, if any angler has to get off a boat for any reason they must not fish.
  • Boats can fish solo or as a Team of 2 (extra children under 16 are allowed) but the full Entry fee still applies either way.
  • Boats / kayaks must stay on the water between event times, if you need to get off the water advise us asap.
  • Rules can change at any time but will only be done and explained at the briefing before that event.
  • At least one angler from each team must attend the briefing before the event, by not doing so the angler puts the team at risk of not hearing new rules that could change on the day.

Boating Guidelines & Rules.

  • You have read the weather forecast for the event you are fishing and your vessel is up to the conditions plus understand the forecast can change at anytime.
  • Minimum Boat size to attend the event is 3.5M with no smaller engine then a 15HP or unless approved by SEQ Sportfishing Services upon request.
  • Always Carry Up to date boating Safety gear that meets all Queensland regulations for the vessel and amount of people on-board.
  • Obey by Queensland fishing rules and regulations at all times
  • Hold up to date Boat insurance.
  • Hold a Current Boat Licence.
  • Wear a correct PFD Life Jacket will driving on the Plane, kayaks must wear a life jacket at all times
  • Weather forecasts over 25 knots of wind from the bom.gov.au site at 4am of the tournament day will be reviewed depending on location of the event. This may result in a change of boundaries or location of the start.

Code Of Conduct.

  • Any Violent actions taking against anyone during tournament times will result in Disqualification and a non-return of the entrant’s fee.
  • The SEQ Sportfishing Series has the right to decline any anger the right to fish an event if they bring the sport down in any manner such as social media bullying towards any angler or the series in general.
  • Any Complaint against any angler or team must be emailed (seqsportfishing@gmail.com) to the organiser of the event within 24 hours of the finish time of the event, we do require photos or video evidence as we will not take a DQ a team unless this is done.
  • The tournament director decision is final.

** All the rules & regulations above are owned and enforced by the SEQ Sportfishing Series at any of their events, the SEQ Sportfishing Series has the right to change any rule at an event but will advise anglers at the briefing of that change.
