Wow what a week of fishing for clients this week aboard SEQ Sportfishing Estuary & Dam charters, the rains finally arrived last week with over 350ml falling in a couple days and flooding the rivers around the Gold Coast and dropping the water temps.
With these floods and cooler water temps it pushes all the bait out from the back creeks and rivers and the amount of bait around the Gold Coast now is crazy and with all this bait is the bigger fish chasing it, the main capture this week was the incredible Snapper run we are having in the Gold Coast Broadwater with over 50 caught on 7 charters ranging between 35cm to 50cm.
These nice pan size Snapper are one of the best eating fish you will get and put up an incredible fight on light line in the shallow water we catch them in, the key once again to catching these great sportfish is timing the conditions as their bite time is short and fishing light with 6lb leader and small soft plastics is the key, fishing this way will also get a number of other species such as Flathead, Flounder, Bream and other species that was caught this week too.
The other great fishing we had this week was chasing the dirty/clear water line as the Trevally and Queenfish will follow this to chase the bait fish hiding in the dirty water line, we had some epic sessions late in the week that seen over 25 fish caught in 2 hours on surface lures, soft plastics and hard bodies casting at busting up fish, fishing this way also got a client a nice Mangrove Jack too.
Generally now to August is the prime time for the Gold Coast and this great fishing should only get better as the water clears up and cools down in the coming months, charter bookings are getting full fast right up to April so get your bookings in to secure a date.
